Appointment of a High Court Judge: Goss

The Queen has been pleased to approve the appointment of His Honour Judge James Richard William Goss, Q.C., to be a Justice of the High Court with effect from 1 October 2014 on the retirement of Mr. Justice Royce on 27 August 2014.

The Lord Chief Justice will assign Judge Goss to the Queen’s Bench Division.

Notes for Editors

Judge Goss, 61, was called to the Bar by the Inner Temple in 1975 and took Silk in 1997. He was appointed a Recorder in 1994, a Circuit Judge in 2009, as a Senior Circuit Judge in 2011 and is approved to sit as a deputy High Court Judge.

Mr. Justice Royce was admitted as a Solicitor in 1969, was called to the Bar by Gray’s Inn in 1970 and took Silk in 1987. He was appointed a Recorder in 1986 and a judge of the Queen’s Bench Division of the High Court in 2002.
