Appointment of the Vice President of the Court of Appeal (Civil Division): Underhill

Lord Justice Underhill has been appointed as Vice-President of the Court of Appeal (Civil) by the Lord Chief Justice, Lord Burnett of Maldon, following consultation with the Lord Chancellor.  The appointment took effect on 16 July 2018.

Biography

The Rt Hon Lord Justice Nicholas Underhill was called to the Bar (Gray’s Inn) in 1976 and became a Bencher in 2000. He took Silk in 1992. He was appointed a Recorder in 1994, a Deputy High Court Judge in 1998 and a High Court Judge in 2006. From 2009 to 2011 he was President of the Employment Appeal Tribunal. He was appointed to the Court of Appeal in 2013.
