Chief Coroner: Guidance No. 16A Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards

The Chief Coroner has issued new Guidance on Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards  in advance of the commencement of the relevant section of the Policing and Crime Act 2017 on Monday 3rd April 2017. This amends the Coroners and Justice Act 2009 with the effect of relieving coroners of the current duty to undertake an inquest into every death where the deceased was subject to a Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) authorisation.
