His Honour Judge Peter Thomas Hughes QC retires as a Circuit Judge with effect from 1 September 2018.

Notes to editors 

His Honour Judge Hughes QC (69) was called to the Bar (G) in 1971 and took Silk in 1993. He was appointed an Assistant Recorder and Chairman of the Medical Appeal Tribunals in 1988, a Recorder in 1992 and Chairman of the Registered Homes Tribunals in 1993. He was appointed Chairman of the Mental Health Review Tribunal (Restricted Patients Panel) in 1999, a Deputy High Court Judge in 2001, a Circuit Judge in 2007 and a Judge of the Court of Protection in 2010.
