The Queen has appointed Simon Anthony Batiste to be a Circuit Judge on the advice of the Lord Chancellor, the Right Honourable David Gauke MP and the Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales, the Right Honourable The Lord Burnett of Maldon.

The Lord Chief Justice has deployed him to the North Eastern circuit, based at Newcastle Crown Court with effect from 12 March 2018.

Notes to editors

Simon Anthony Batiste, aged 44, will be known as His Honour Judge Batiste. He was called to the Bar (L) in 1995. He was appointed as a Fee-Paid Judge of the First-tier Tribunal, Immigration and Asylum Chamber in 2006 and as a Recorder in 2012.
