Circuit Judge Appointment: Earl

The Queen has appointed District Judge (Magistrates’ Courts) Stephen Earl to be a Circuit Judge on the advice of the Lord Chancellor, the Right Honourable Michael Gove MP and the Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales, the Right Honourable The Lord Thomas of Cwmgiedd.

The Lord Chief Justice has deployed him to the North East Circuit, based at Newcastle Crown Court with effect from 11 November 2015.

Notes to editors

District Judge (Magistrates’ Courts) Stephen Earl, aged 57, will be known as His Honour Judge Earl. He was admitted as a Solicitor in 1982. He was appointed as a Deputy District Judge (Magistrates’ Courts) in 2000 and was appointed as a District Judge (Magistrates’ Courts) in 2004.
