Circuit Judge: Smith

The Queen has appointed Shaun Malden Smith QC to be a Circuit Judge on the advice of the Lord Chancellor, the Right Honourable David Lidington MP and the Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales, the Right Honourable Lord Burnett of Maldon.

The Lord Chief Justice has deployed him to the Midland Circuit, based at Derby Combined Court Centre with effect from 22 January 2018.

Notes to editors

Shaun Malden Smith, aged 58, will be known as His Honour Judge Shaun Smith QC. He was called to the Bar in 1981 and took silk in 2008. He was appointed as a Recorder in 2001.
