Criminal Practice Directions and Practice Direction (Costs in Criminal Proceedings) re-issued

To reflect the forthcoming rearrangement of the Criminal Procedure Rules in the Criminal Procedure Rules 2015 (SI 2015/1490) the:

  • Criminal Practice Directions of 2013 [2013] EWCA Crim 1631; [2013] 1 WLR 3164 (as amended); and
  • Practice Direction (Costs in Criminal Proceedings) of 2013 [2013] EWCA Crim 1632; [2013] 1 WLR 3255 (as amended)

are being revoked and reissued as the

  • Criminal Practice Directions 2015 [2015] EWCA 1567; and
  • Practice Direction (Costs in Criminal Proceedings) 2015 [2015] EWCA Crim 1568.

Within the Criminal Practice Directions 2015, divisions and paragraphs have been reordered and renumbered to correspond with the Criminal Procedure Rules 2015. In addition, references to the Criminal Procedure Rules and the Criminal Practice Directions have been updated. Similarly, within the Practice Direction (Costs in Criminal Proceedings) 2015, references to the Criminal Procedure Rules have been updated. Otherwise, the content of the practice directions remains the same.

The Criminal Practice Directions 2015 and the Practice Direction (Costs in Criminal Proceedings) 2015 will come into force on 5 October 2015. They will be available on www.judiciary.uk and www.justice.gov.uk.
