Death in service: Judge Roger William Elsey

The Lord Chief Justice, The Right Honourable The Lord Burnett of Maldon, and the Lord Chancellor, the Right Honourable Dominic Raab MP, were saddened to learn of the death of Judge Roger William Elsey, Resident Judge of the Sovereign Base Areas of Cyprus and serving District Judge (Magistrates’ Courts), on 20 October 2021.

Background Information

Judge Elsey (67) was called to the Bar (Gray’s Inn) in 1977. He was appointed as a Deputy District Judge (Magistrates’ Court) in 1999 and a District Judge (Magistrates’ Court) in 2004. He was appointed the Resident Judge of the Sovereign Base Areas of Cyprus in 2019.
