The Queen has appointed Sarah-Jane Griffiths to be a District Judge (Magistrates’ Courts) on the advice of the Lord Chancellor, the Right Honourable Michael Gove MP and the Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales, the Right Honourable The Lord Thomas of Cwmgiedd.
The Lord Chief Justice has deployed her to the North Eastern Circuit, based at Gateshead Magistrates’ Court with effect from 1 March 2016.

Sarah-Jane Griffiths, aged 40, will be known as District Judge (Magistrates’ Courts) Griffiths. She was called to the Bar (L) in 1998 and admitted as a Solicitor in 2010. She was appointed as a Fee-paid Judge of the First-tier Tribunal, Social Entitlement Chamber (Social Security and Child Support) in 2013.
