District Judge (Magistrates’ Courts) Appointment: Toms

The Queen has appointed Sophie Jane Toms to be a District Judge (Magistrates’ Courts) on the advice of the Lord Chancellor, the Right Honourable David Lidington MP and the Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales, the Right Honourable The Lord Burnett of Maldon.

The Lord Chief Justice has deployed her to the South-Eastern Circuit, based at Reading Magistrates’ Court with effect from 29 January 2018.

Notes to editors

Sophie Jane Toms, aged 41, will be known as District Judge (Magistrates’ Courts) Toms. She was admitted as a solicitor in 2001. She was appointed as a Deputy District Judge (Magistrates’ Courts) in 2012.
