High Court Judge Appointment (Family Division): Francis

The Queen has been pleased to approve the appointment of Nicholas Francis QC to be a Justice of the High Court with effect from 6 October 2016 consequential to the retirement of Dame Mary Hogg DBE

The Lord Chief Justice will assign Mr Francis to the Family Division.

Nicholas Francis QC, aged 58, will be known as The Honourable Mr Justice Francis. He was called to the Bar (M) in 1981 and took Silk in 2002. He was appointed as an Assistant Recorder in 1999, as a Recorder in 2000 and a Deputy High Court Judge in 2011.

Dame Mary Hogg DBE, aged 69, was called to the Bar (L) in 1968, took Silk in 1989 and elected as a Bencher of Lincoln’s Inn in 1995. She was appointed an Assistant Recorder in 1986 and a Recorder in 1990. She was appointed a Deputy High Court Judge (Family Division) in 1991 and a Judge of the High Court (Family Division) in 1995
