The Honourable Sir Arthur William Hessin Charles retires from the High Court (Queen’s Bench) with effect from 17 February 2018. 

Notes to editors 

Sir William Charles (69) was called to the Bar (L) in 1971. He was appointed a Judge of the High Court (Family Division) in 1998, President of the Upper Tribunal (Administrative Appeals Chamber) in 2012 and Vice President of the Court of Protection in 2014. He was appointed a Judge of the High Court (Queen’s Bench) in 2014 and President of the First-tier Tribunal (War Pensions and Armed Forces Compensation Chamber) in 2016.
