High Court: Retirement of The Honourable Sir William James Lynton Blair

The Honourable Sir William James Lynton Blair retires from the High Court (Queen’s Bench) with effect from 1 December 2017.

Sir William Blair (67) was called to the Bar (L) in 1972, took Silk in 1994 and was elected a Bencher in 2003. He was appointed a Recorder in 1998, a part-time Chairman of the Financial Services and Markets Tribunal in 2001, a Deputy High Court Judge in 2003 and Chairman of the Pensions Regulatory Tribunal in 2005. He was appointed a Judge of the High Court (Queen’s Bench) in 2008 and an Upper Tribunal Judge (Tax Chamber) in 2009. He was appointed President of the Board of Appeal of the European Supervisory Authorities in 2012.  He was appointed Judge in Charge of the Commercial Court in 2016.
