Judicial Assistants Pilot Scheme

|High Court|Commercial Court|News
  1. The Commercial Court has launched a Commercial Court Judicial Assistant Pilot Scheme in association with the Commercial Bar Association (“COMBAR”).
  2. It is intended that the first three Commercial Court Judicial Assistants will start their 6-month placements on 11 January 2018. The deadline for applications is 5pm on 13 November 2017. The application form and notice form for applications can be found below.  Successful applicants will be notified by email on or before 24 November 2017.
  3. This is a high priority for the Commercial Court and for COMBAR, and it is hoped that, for the future, the scheme will play a significant role in both supporting the work of the Commercial Court and in the development of younger members of the Commercial Bar. The Commercial Court Judicial Assistant placements will be prestigious positions and successful candidates are expected to be of outstanding quality.
  4. The administration of the scheme and the selection of candidates will be undertaken by the Commercial Court. Successful applicants will receive an award equal to half of their Chambers’ annual pupillage award for the six-month period. For the purposes of the Pilot Scheme, this award will be paid directly by the successful applicants’ respective Chambers. Funding of the scheme will be considered further if the Pilot Scheme is successful and rolled-out on a permanent basis.
