President of the Employment Appeal Tribunal – Mr Justice Choudhury

The Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales, the Right Honourable The Lord Burnett of Maldon, has appointed The Honourable Mr Justice Choudhury to be President of the Employment Appeal Tribunal with effect from 1 January 2019.  He succeeds The Honourable Mrs Justice Simler who will be standing down from the role on 31 December 2018 having served 3 years as President.

Sir Akhlaq Choudhury was called to the Bar (Inner Temple) in 1992 and took Silk in 2015. He was appointed a Recorder in 2009, a Deputy High Court Judge in 2016 and a High Court Judge, assigned to the Queen’s Bench Division, in 2017.
