Retirement of District Judge Michael John Walker CBE

District Judge Michael Walker CBE retires as a District Judge with effect from 1 November 2016.

District Judge Walker CBE (65) was admitted as a Solicitor in 1975. He was appointed a Deputy District Judge in 1991, a District Judge in 1994, the Honorary Secretary of the Association of Her Majesty’s District Judges (formerly the Association of District Judges) from 2000 to 2011 and a Member of the Judges’ Council from 2002. In 2007 he was appointed a Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire and from September 2007 was seconded to the Office of the Senior Presiding Judge. He was a Judicial Member of the Board of Her Majesty’s Court Service from 2008 to 2011 and a Judicial Member of the Board of Her Majesty’s Courts and Tribunals Service from 2011. He was appointed an Honorary Bencher of Gray’s Inn in 2014.
