Senior District Judge (Chief Magistrate) Appointment: Arbuthnot

The Queen has appointed Emma Louise Arbuthnot to be Senior District Judge (Chief Magistrate) on the advice of the Lord Chancellor, the Right Honourable Elizabeth Truss MP and the Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales, the Right Honourable The Lord Thomas of Cwmgiedd.

She will based at Westminster Magistrates’ Court with effect from 5 October 2016.

Emma Louise Arbuthnot, aged 57, will be known as Senior District Judge (Chief Magistrate) Arbuthnot. She was called to the Bar (I) in 1986. She was appointed as a Deputy District Judge (Magistrates’ Court) in 1999, as a Recorder in 2002, as a District Judge (Magistrates’ Court) in 2005 and as Deputy Senior District Judge (Magistrates’ Court) in 2012.
