The appointment of the Mr Justice Flaux as the Chairman of SIAC, POAC and PAAC


Special Immigration Appeals Commission (SIAC), Proscribed Organisations Appeal Commission (POAC) and Pathogens Access Appeals Commission (PAAC): Appointment of a new Chairman

The Lord Chancellor has appointed The Honourable Mr Justice Flaux as the Chairman of the SIAC, POAC and PAAC from 1 January 2016, in succession to Mr Justice Irwin who will reach the end of his term on 31 December 2015.

Sir Julian Flaux (60) was called to the Bar (Inner Temple) in 1978 and was appointed a QC in 1994. He was appointed as an Assistant Recorder in 1997, a Recorder in 2000 and a Deputy High Court Judge in 2002. He was appointed to the High Court, Queen’s Bench Division in 2007. He was Presiding Judge of the Midland Circuit from 2010 to 2013. He was Judge in Charge of the Commercial Court from July 2014 to December 2015. He was appointed as a member of SIAC in March 2013. The appointment as Chairman of SIAC, POAC and PAAC is for three years from 1 January 2016 to 31 December 2018.
