Upper Tribunal Judge Retirement: Rowland

Upper Tribunal Judge Mark Rowland retires with effect from 1 January 2019

Upper Tribunal Judge Rowland (65) was called to the Bar (G) in 1975.  He was appointed a part-time Chairman of Social Security Appeal Tribunals in 1988, of Disability Appeal Tribunals in 1991 and of Medical Appeal Tribunals in 1992 and a Deputy Social Security Commissioner in 1992.  He was appointed a salaried Social Security and Child Support Commissioner in 1993 (now a Judge of the Upper Tribunal (Administrative Appeals Chamber)).  He was additionally appointed a part-time Chairman of Registered Homes Tribunals in 1995 (later as a part-time Chairman of the Care Standards Tribunal).
