Appointment of a High Court Judge: Tappin KC
The Lady Chief Justice is delighted to welcome the appointment by His Majesty the King of Michael Tappin KC to the High Court.
Mr Justice Tappin will be assigned to the Business and Property Division where he will bring 35 years of experience as a barrister, and five years of judicial experience as a Deputy High Court Judge to the role.
This appointment will fill a vacancy in the High Court following elevations to the Court of Appeal and confirmed retirements.
Background
Michael Tappin KC will be known as The Honourable Mr Justice Tappin. He was called to the Bar (Middle Temple) in 1991 and took Silk in 2009. He was appointed as a Deputy High Court Judge in 2021.
He will take up appointment on 1 October 2026.
