The Lord Chancellor and Secretary of State for Justice has today published the Chief Coroner’s annual report.
It is the third and final annual report from the first Chief Coroner of England and Wales, HHJ Peter Thornton QC. In this report he will assess the state of the coroner service during his term of office from 2012-2016 and make recommendations for the future.
Section 36 of the Coroners and Justice Act 2009 provides that the Chief Coroner must give the Lord Chancellor a report for each year.
