On Wednesday, the Lord Chief Justice, Lord Burnett of Maldon, gave evidence at the House of Lords Constitution Committee’s Annual Evidence Session.
Lord Burnett gave evidence on several topics, including the functions of the Lord Chancellor, the backlog of casework in the courts due to COVID-19, judicial recruitment, magistrates’ sentencing powers, the Courts and Tribunals Reform Programme, legal aid, diversity in the judiciary, and more.
