Cross Jurisdictional training overview
The College introduced a faculty during 2016 in order to provide a structure for the rationalisation of all cross-jurisdictional training activity. This includes judicial skills, social context training, academic programmes and other matters such as leadership and management skills. The faculty will provide guidance to enable good practice in the delivery of all judicial training for pervasive work themes (activities, skills and knowledge) which are applicable and common to all judicial office holders.
The faculty operates courses such as Business of Judging and Judge as Communicator which bring court judges, tribunal judges and coroners together to be trained in judicial skills. These are highly participative and help judges improve their judicial skills by practising them in role play scenarios and learning from judges in other jurisdictions.
