Appointment of two new Senior Coroners and eight new Area Coroners

The Chief Coroner, His Honour Judge Thomas Teague KC, has welcomed the appointment of two new Senior Coroners and eight new Area Coroners in England and Wales. They are:

  • London Borough of Waltham Forest Council, as the relevant authority, have appointed Graeme Irvine as the senior coroner for the East London coroner area
  • Warrington Borough Council, as the relevant authority, have appointed Jacqueline Devonish as the senior coroner for the Cheshire coroner area
  • West Sussex County Council, as the relevant authority, have appointed Joanne Andrews as area coroner for the West Sussex coroner area
  • Wakefield Council, as the relevant authority, have appointed Oliver Longstaff as area coroner for the West Yorkshire (Eastern) coroner area
  • Bolton Council, as the relevant authority, have appointed Peter Sigee as area coroner for the Manchester West coroner area
  • Doncaster Borough Council, as the relevant authority, have appointed Sarah Louise Slater as area coroner for the South Yorkshire (East) coroner area
  • North Yorkshire County Council, as the relevant authority, have appointed Catherine Cundy as area coroner for the North Yorkshire and City of York coroner area
  • Nottingham City Council, as the relevant authority, have appointed Laurinda Bower as area coroner for the Nottingham and Nottinghamshire coroner area
  • Kent County Council, as the relevant authority, have appointed Sarah Clarke as area coroner for the North East Kent coroner area
  • Essex County Council, as the relevant authority, have appointed Sonia Hayes as area coroner for the Essex coroner area

All appointments were made following an open competition and after receiving the consent of the Chief Coroner and Lord Chancellor.
