About the Employment Appeal Tribunal

The Employment Appeal Tribunal (often referred to as “the EAT”) was established by the Employment Protection Act 1975, as the successor to the National Industrial Relations Court (“NIRC”). It continues in existence by virtue of section 20(1) Employment Tribunals Act 1996.
