CivilFamilyNews

The Judicial Appointments Commission (JAC) will be launching a selection exercise on 19 March 2024 to recruit 125 Deputy District Judges (DDJs) vacancies anticipated across England and Wales.

Pre-application seminar

This seminar is organised by Judicial Office and will take place online via Microsoft Teams at 5pm-6pm on Wednesday 28 February for those interested in applying for appointment.

The seminar aims to help applicants be better prepared to make an application and to receive up-to-date guidance and advice on the JAC’s selection process. You will also hear from serving DDJs and a representative from the JAC.

Please register for this seminar here.

Who should attend?

Judicial office holders and all lawyers (including CILEX lawyers) who have five years’ legal post qualification experience.

Applications are particularly welcome from under-represented groups (women, ethnic minority candidates, disabled candidates and solicitors). Training in the civil jurisdiction is provided for all appointed DDJs. Half of the appointed cohort will receive training in both civil and family jurisdictions.

Deputy District Judges sit on a fee-paid basis in the County Courts and District Registries of the High Court. Their work involves a wide spectrum of civil and family law cases.
