District Judge pre-application seminars – November 2024
The Judicial Appointments Commission (JAC) (external link) will be launching a selection exercise in November to recruit District Judges.
The seminar
The Judicial Office is organising a pre-application seminar that will take place online via Microsoft Teams on Thursday 14 November at 5pm (75 minutes). Note that the seminar planned for Wednesday 6 November 2024 has been cancelled.
The seminar aims to help applicants be better prepared to make an application and to receive up-to-date guidance and advice on the JAC’s selection process. As well as the JAC, you will also hear from current serving District Judges.
An additional seminar will be held on Wednesday 20 November 2024 if you are unable to attend the one on the 6 November.
Who should attend?
Candidates must have five years post qualification legal experience and are expected to have at least 15 sitting days as a judge or in a quasi-judicial capacity.
Applications are particularly welcome from under-represented groups (women, ethnic minority candidates, disabled candidates and solicitors).
Training is provided for all appointed.
For more information on the role, please visit the District Judges webpage.
