The Judicial Appointments Commission (JAC) will be launching a selection exercise to recruit 18 Fee-paid Financially Qualified Members, First-tier Tribunal, Social Entitlement Chamber.

The Social Entitlement Chamber of the First-tier Tribunal hears appeals relating to a wide variety of benefit decisions made by central and local governments. The Tribunal’s composition depends on the nature of the appeal but will include a Tribunal Judge. 

For those interested in applying for a role, the Judicial Office is organising a pre-application seminar that will take place online via Microsoft Teams at 5-6pm on Monday 1 July 2024

The seminar aims to help applicants be better prepared to make an application and to receive up-to-date guidance and advice on the JAC’s selection process. You can register for the pre-application seminar at the Judicial Careers website.

Who should attend?

Financial Members must be a qualified chartered accountant. For further information on the eligibility criteria please see the selection exercise at the Judicial Appointments Commission website.

Applications are particularly welcome from under-represented groups (women, ethnic minority candidates and disabled candidates). Training is provided for all appointed members.
