The Lord Chief Justice’s Report 2010-12
Published in August 2012, this report covers the period 2010-2012.
In his introduction, the Lord Chief Justice, Lord Judge said:
“The efforts made by the judiciary and the court service staff to support the administration of justice can be readily appreciated. One illustration is the speed and efficiency with which the courts, and the staff employed in them, responded to the disturbances in the streets of our cities during the summer of 2011.This was one contributory factor in bringing them to an end.
“At the same time, far removed from these disturbances, the courts now sitting in the new Rolls Building continued to make their customary contribution to the wealth of the nation, a contribution which it might be noted far exceeds the budget available to Her Majesty’s Courts and Tribunal Service (HMCTS).
“I am both grateful for and proud of the contribution made by the judiciary to the maintenance of the rule of law in England and Wales.”
The report was presented to Parliament under s.5(1) Constitutional Reform Act 2005.
