The Lord Chief Justice, Lord Burnett of Maldon, has today (Tuesday 3 November) laid his annual report before Parliament.
The report reflects on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and the Lord Chief Justice pays “tribute to judges, staff and officials, the professions and all those others who have enabled the wheels of justice to continue to turn since March. Without their dedication and intense hard work, in the most demanding and unprecedented of circumstances, the justice system would be in a far worse position now.”
The report also covers a range of other topics including judicial diversity, courts and tribunals modernisation, judicial training, engagement with schools and the work of each of the jurisdictions.
