Judge in Charge of the London Circuit Commercial Court
His Honour Judge Mark Pelling KC will retire from his role as Judge in Charge of the London Circuit Commercial Court on Friday 23 January 2026.
His Honour Judge Nigel Bird will temporarily take over as interim Judge in Charge of the London Circuit Commercial Court (LCCC) from Monday 26 January 2026 until a permanent replacement is appointed.
A Judicial Appointments Commission exercise for the permanent position of Judge in Charge of the LCCC, as well as for an additional LCCC Specialist Circuit Judge, will be launched in early 2026.
His Honour Judge Bird was called to the Bar in 1991. He was appointed as a Recorder in 2008, a Circuit Judge in 2011 and a Specialist Circuit Judge in 2013. He was appointed as the Designated Civil Judge for Greater Manchester in 2018.
