Pursuant to paragraph 13 of Practice Direction: Committal for Contempt of Court – Open Court dated 26 March 2015
In relation to claim no. CL-2022-000048 (Commercial Bank of Dubai PSC and Others v Al Sari and Others) on 20 November 2023 at the Royal Courts of Justice in London, the Hon Mr Justice Butcher sentenced Abdalla Juma Majid Al Sari to 24 months imprisonment for contempt of Court, Majid Abdalla Juma Al Sari to 24 months imprisonment for contempt of Court, and Mohamed Abdalla Juma Al Sari to 21 months imprisonment for contempt of Court. The Court also imposed a confiscation order upon FAL Oil Co LLC, Investment Group Private Limited and IGPL General Trading LLC for contempt of Court.
The basis of the sentences and penalty was that those individuals and companies committed the breaches of an order made on 18 February 2022 by Mrs Justice Cockerill and continued on 11 March 2022 by Mr Justice Calver in the respects set out in the judgment of Mr Justice Butcher given on 4 October 2023 ([2023] EWHC 2624 (Comm)).
The Court imposed the above sentences in respect of those breaches of the orders.
