Judgment

  1. On the 8 January 2025 this court committed John James White to prison in relation to an order dated 25 March 2024 as varied on 19 November 2024 (“the Injunction Order”) and which provided that the Defendant ought not to enter certain parts of Gateshead as described on maps attached to that order (“the Restricted Area”) and which included his Mother’s home address.
  2. The Defendant admitted that he had breached the Injunction Order by:
    1. Entering the Restricted Area on 24 December 2024 and being outside his Mother’s home address; and
    2. Entering the Restricted Area on 2 January 2024 and entering his Mother’s home address and falling asleep on her sofa.
  3. The Court imposed the following sentences for those breaches:
    1. 18 days but after taking into account time already served on remand the sentence was reduced to one of time served; and
    2. 18 days but after taking into account time already served on remand the sentence was reduced to one of time served.
  4. The Court noted that by virtue of a suspended sentence handed down by District Judge Gribble on 1 November 2024 that the Defendant now ought to serve a total of 16 days in prison.
  5. Accordingly it was ordered that John James White be committed for contempt to Her Majesty’s Prison at Durham for a total period of 16 days or until lawfully discharged if sooner.
