In relation to the above numbered case on 2nd November 2023, Judge Sendall sitting in the County Court at Gateshead, Sitting At, Newcastle Combined Court,
The Law Courts, Quayside, Newcastle Upon Tyne, NE1 3LA as a District Judge of the County Court, sentenced the Defendant in that case, to a custodial sentence of 53 days for contempt of court on breach of an Injunction Order dated 15 October 2023
The basis of the sentence imposed is that:
Jonathan Bird was in breach of the Injunction, by 1. The defendant admitted that he breached paragraph 2(a) of the order dated 15 June 2023 on the following occasions: a. 25 October 2023, b .31 October 2023 and c. 1 November 2023
2. The court activated the suspended sentence dated 14 July 2023 of 28 days and sentenced the defendant to 28 days’ imprisonment to be served consecutively. The court noted that the defendant had spent three days in police custody and gave credit for this time.
- These breaches were contrary to the terms of the Injunction Order dated 15 October 2023 to which Jonathan Bird was subject.
