Order

UPON the Defendant’s application for an anonymity order dated 29 January 2026;

AND UPON hearing from counsel for the Claimant and Defendant;

AND UPON considering the Article 8 rights of former and current students of the Defendant and the risk of
interference with those rights that identification may cause to them;

AND UPON considering the principle of open justice and the Article 10 right to freedom of expression;

AND UPON the Court concluding that the withholding of information likely to lead to the identification of former and current students of the Defendant as connected to these proceedings and the restricting of reporting of material disclosed in these proceedings that would identify former and current students of the Defendant are strictly necessary in the interests of justice;

IT IS ORDERED THAT:

  1. The names of former and current students of the Defendant (the “Students”) and any other information which is likely to lead to the identification of the Students as connected to these proceedings are to be withheld in any judgments in this claim.
  2. No report, whether oral or in writing, or other communication in whatever form addressed to the public or any section of the public of or concerning these proceedings which is published from the date of this Order may include;
    2.1 The names of the Students; or
    2.2. Any other information which is likely to lead to the identification of the Students as connected to these proceedings.
  3. Any reports or other communications to the public which exist prior to the date of this order are not affected by this order.
  4. Pursuant to CPR r.5.4C:
    4.1. A person who is not a party to the proceedings may not obtain a copy of a judgment from the Court records unless the judgment has been anonymised in accordance with paragraph 1 above.
    4.2. If a person who is not a party to the proceedings applies for permission to inspect or obtain a copy of any other document of communication, such application shall be on at least 7 days’ notice to the Defendant’s solicitor unless the court orders otherwise.
  5. The Court file shall be clearly marked with the words “An anonymity order was made in this case on 29 January 2026 and any application by a non-party to inspect or obtain a copy document form this file must be dealt with in accordance with the terms of that Order”.
  6. Pursuant to CPR r.39.2(5), a copy of this Order shall be published on the website of the Judiciary of England and Wales. For that purpose, a court officer will send a copy of the order by email to the Judicial Office at judicialwebupdates@judiciary.uk
