Anonymity Order

BEFORE the Honourable Mrs Justice Hill DBE

UPON consideration of the application made by the Respondent for the anonymisation of Patient A

AND UPON the Appellant confirming that there was no objection to the application

AND UPON the court being satisfied that this order is appropriate

IT IS ORDERED THAT:

  1. Pursuant to CPR r.39.2(4), Patient A shall not be identified in these proceedings but referred to throughout as Patient A.
  2. Pursuant to s. 11 of the Contempt of Court Act 1981 there must be no reference in any report of the proceedings to the patient’s name, address, or other details leading to his identification.
  3. Pursuant to CPR r.5.4C(1) and (4) a person who is a not a party to the proceedings may only obtain a statement of the case from the court’s record if any references to the name or identifying details of Patient A has been removed.
  4. Pursuant to CPR r.5.4C(2) and/or the inherent jurisdiction of the court, any application by a non-party for access to other court records or other documents concerning this appeal should be referred to the judge hearing the appeal (Mrs Justice Hill) for consideration of similar limitations on the identity of Patient A.
  5. In accordance with the recent decision of Fordham J, in R (Metropolitan Police Commissioner) v Police Misconduct Panel, Mark Neale [2025] EWHC 1462 (Admin) the advocates shall bring redacted version of their skeletons to the hearing.
  6. The Court’s CE-file system shall be clearly marked with the words “An anonymity order was made in this case on 1 July 2025 and any application by a non-party to inspect or obtain a copy document from this file must be dealt with in accordance with the terms of that order.”
  7. Any person wishing to vary or discharge this Order must make an application, served on each party.
  8. Pursuant to CPR 39.2(5) and the Practice Guidance: Publication of Privacy and Anonymity Orders dated 16 April 2019 a copy of this order shall be published on the Judicial Website of the High Court of Justice (www.judiciary.uk). For that purpose, a court officer will send a copy of the order by email to the Judicial Office at judicialwebupdates@judiciary.uk.
  9. Costs in the case.
