Anonymity Order

UPON the Claimants’ applications for anonymity dated 9 April 2024

AND UPON hearing Ms Patyna of counsel on behalf of the Claimants and Ms Masood of counsel on behalf of the Defendant

AND UPON the Defendant having taken a neutral stance in relation to the Claimants’ applications for anonymity

IT IS ORDERED THAT:-

  1. The hearing of the Claimants’ applications for anonymity is adjourned to 2 August 2024, at 2pm, and is listed for half a day.
  2. Paragraph 2 of the Order dated 22 April 2024 shall remain in place. No person who is not a party to the proceedings shall obtain any document from the Court’s CE-File under CPR5.4C or otherwise without the permission of a Master or Judge of the King’s Bench Division and any request for such a document shall be referred to a Master (or Judge).
  3. The identification of the name of the First Claimant is prohibited and in the interim he shall be known by the letters ‘XNG’.
  4. The identification of Claimants 13, 87 and 94 on the schedule to the claim form shall be prohibited and they shall be known by the ciphers C13, C87, C94.
  5. This Order, including in particular, paragraphs 3 and 4, shall be further considered at the hearing listed on 2 August 2024.
  6. The Claimants’ solicitors shall, by 20 June 2024, provide to the Press Association a brief summary of the claim and the reasons why anonymity is sought on the Claimants’ behalf and a copy of this Order.
  7. By no later than 4pm on 18 July 2024, the Claimants shall serve on the Defendant further evidence in the form of a witness statement identifying, with reference to each Claimant, why anonymity is being sought on their behalf (‘the evidence’).
  8. By no later than 4pm on 25 July 2024, the Claimants shall file at Court:
    (a) the evidence,
    (b) a hearing bundle,
    (c) a skeleton argument, and
    (d) a bundle of relevant authorities.
  9. The Claimants shall serve the hearing bundle, skeleton argument, and bundle of authorities on the Defendant by 4pm 25 July 2024.
  10. A copy of this Order shall be published on the website of the Judiciary of England and Wales (which may be found at www.judiciary.uk).
  11. Any person who is not a party to the proceedings may apply to attend the adjourned hearing and make submissions, or apply (but if they do so they should give at least 7 days’ notice to the parties) to set aside or vary this order.
