Lady Chief Justice’s annual press conference 2025
The Lady Chief Justice, The Baroness Carr of Walton-on-the-Hill, held her annual press conference yesterday (Tuesday 18 February 2025).
She met members of the national and specialist media at the Royal Courts of Justice.
Baroness Carr covered a number of topics, including: judicial security, transparency and open justice, the rule of law, AI and technology in the courts, diversity, working conditions and the court estate.
Reflecting on the past year, she told the conference: “I remain positive and I remain committed to my three headline priorities: recognising and promoting our strengths, building judicial unity, and reducing backlogs, improving timeliness and performance. In what can sometimes seem a difficult environment, it’s important to emphasise that there still is a lot of really good, really exciting work going on.”
