Begum v The Secretary of State for the Home Department

11th – 12th June 2020

An appeal from the decision of the Administrative Court dated 7/2/20 dismissing the Appellant’s substantive judicial review challenging the refusal by the Secretary of State for the Home Department of her application for Leave to Enter on human rights grounds.  Permission to appeal was granted by the lower court.

The Secretary of State for the Home Department made a decision dated 19th February 2019 to deprive the appellant of her British citizenship following her departure from the UK as a minor to join ISIS.  Her application for Leave to Enter was in order to effectively participate in her citizenship appeal which is still outstanding.
