The Appellant appeals the order of HHJ Bird, sitting in the Administrative Court, dated 24 May 2024, by which he dismissed the Appellant’s judicial review claim.
The Appellant sought compensation from the Home Office under the Windrush Compensation Scheme. The Home Office refused her application. She then disputed the decision by lodging an administrative appeal which was resolved in her favour and she was awarded compensation.
The Appellant was assisted by Southwark Law Centre to make her application and to pursue the internal appeal. They applied to the Respondent for legal aid so that they would be remunerated for that work. The application for legal aid was refused, by way of a final decision dated 31 October 2022.
