The Defendant appeals against the Judgment of the 20 January 2021 and order made by Collins Rice J dated 26 January 2021 striking out the D’s defences of truth, honest opinion and publication on a matter of public interest.
D was ordered to pay the costs of C’s application, to be summarily assessed on the papers if not agreed.
C is a well-know television presenter. D is a political journalist. C’s claim arises from an article published by D on his website on 26/1/19 headlined “serial abuser Rachel Riley to receive”extra protection”- on grounds that she is receiving abuse”.
