By Appellant’s Notice filed on 19 March 2024, the Secretary of State for the Home Department (“SSHD”) seeks permission to appeal against the decision of Swift J, handed down on 18 March 2024, by which the Judge found the SSHD’s consultation in respect of the transfer of the functions of the Police and Crime Commissioner for the West Midlands to the Mayor of the West Midlands to be unlawful, and quashed the SSHD’s decision to lay an order before Parliament to effect a transfer of functions.
