Swearing in of Dame Sue Carr as Lady Chief Justice

For the first time in history, the swearing in ceremony of a Lady Chief Justice will be available to the public to view via a live stream making it accessible to everyone.
The swearing in ceremony, during which the new Lady Chief Justice will take the judicial oath, will take place in Court 4 at the Royal Courts of Justice at 9am on Monday 2 October 2023.
Dame Sue Carr was appointed as the Lady Chief Justice of England and Wales from 1 October 2023, following the retirement of The Rt Hon. the Lord Burnett of Maldon on 30 September 2023. You can read more about her appointment here.
