The Duke of Sussex (appellant) v Secretary Of State for the Home Department (respondent)

Tuesday 8 – Wednesday 9 April 2025 at 10:30am

By Appellant’s Notice filed on the 29 April 2024, this is an appeal against the decision of Mr Justice Lane, sitting in the Administrative Court, dated 28 February 2024.

The Appellant challenged, by way of judicial review, the decision of the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures (RAVEC), communicated in a letter of 28 February 2020 that, as a result of his change in status in the Royal Family, he would no longer be provided with the same degree of publicly-funded personal protective security by the police, when in Great Britain.

Mr Justice Lane dismissed the judicial review finding that RAVEC, as an expert body, was entitled to reach the conclusion it did.
