The rule of law is a concept fundamental to our daily lives, but many people have little idea of what it means in practice.
Over 1,000 people have signed up to our Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) in collaboration with the University of Law to learn more about it. The free three-week course explains what the rule of law is and how judges help to uphold it.
Watch the video below from our MOOC, which shows Mrs Justice McGowan and Lady Justice Carr in conversation about the rule of law and how it is relevant to the society we live in. Lady Justice Carr refers to several key tenets, such as equality for all and access to justice, stating that the rule of law ‘underpins a fair, democratic and open society.’
