Kings Security Systems Ltd (claimant/respondent) –v- King (defendant/appellant)

Tuesday 27th July 2021

The First Defendant seeks permission to appeal and a stay of execution in respect to the order of Andrew Lenon QC, sitting as a Deputy High Court Judge, dated 19 March 2021, whereby he entered judgment for the Claimant in the sum of £62,242.21, dismissed the Counterclaim, rescinded the settlement agreement between the Claimant and First Defendant and ordered costs against the First Defendant. The First Defendant was ordered to pay £1m on account of costs by 4pm on 16 April 2021.

This was the trial of a claim that the applicant, the then CEO of Kings Security Systems Limited (`KSSL’), took a bribe when he received the use of a Range Rover. The First Defendant counterclaimed for £70,000 which he alleged should have been paid to him under a settlement agreement.
