Senior Coroner – Death in Service: Kally Cheema
The Lady Chief Justice, The Right Honourable the Baroness Carr of Walton-on-the-Hill, The Chief Coroner, HHJ Alexia Durran, and Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Alex Davies-Jones MP were saddened to learn of the death of Kally Cheema on Wednesday 18 December 2024.
Background information
Kally Cheema was Senior Coroner for Cumbria. Prior to her appointment, she was a team manager in the HM Court Services Legal Team, followed by appointments as Assistant Coroner in various coronial areas, as well as a three-year posting as HM Coroner and Magistrate for the British overseas territory of the Turks and Caicos Islands. Ms Cheema was also a course director within the Judicial College and sat on the Independent Police and Crime Commissioner Misconduct Hearing Panel.
