The Lady Chief Justice, The Right Honourable the Baroness Carr of Walton-on-the-Hill, The Chief Coroner, HHJ Alexia Durran, and Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Alex Davies-Jones MP were saddened to learn of the death of Kevin McLoughlin on 28 March 2026.

Background information

Kevin McLoughlin was Senior Coroner for Yorkshire West Eastern. He began his legal career as a university law lecturer before qualifying as a solicitor, later becoming national head partner at DLA Piper’s Insurance, Marine & Aviation Group. He subsequently transferred to the Bar and practised at Temple Garden Chambers, London, specialising in inquests and health and safety law. He sat regularly as an Assistant Coroner before being appointed Senior Coroner for Yorkshire West Eastern.
