Specialist Civil Circuit Judge (Chancery) pre-application seminar 2025
The Judicial Appointments Commission (JAC) (external link) will be launching a selection exercise in December to recruit a Specialist Civil Circuit Judge (Chancery).
The seminar
The Judicial Office is organising a pre-application seminar that will take place online via Microsoft Teams on Tuesday 2 December 2025 from 5-6pm.
The seminar aims to help applicants be better prepared to make an application and to receive up-to-date guidance and advice on the JAC’s selection process. As well as the JAC, you will also hear from leadership judges and current Specialist Civil Circuit Judges.
Who should attend?
The vacancy is based in Manchester. Specialist Business and Property Courts Circuit Judges are expected to carry out the full duties of a Circuit Judge together with additional leadership and administrative duties.
There is no requirement for candidates to have previous judicial experience for this post. However, candidates must have substantial recent experience (within the last seven years) of Chancery law and procedure, along with some experience in commercial law and of the work undertaken by the Circuit Commercial Court and the Technology and Construction Court.
Applications are particularly welcome from under-represented groups (women, ethnic minority candidates, disabled candidates, solicitors).
